VCU transfer forward commits to Tennessee basketball

VCU transfer forward Christian Fermin committed to Tennessee on Thursday, according to Joe Tipton of On3.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pound senior was a three-star prospect in the Rams’ 2022 signing class. Fermin is from Pocono Mountain West High School in Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania. He played in 14 games as a freshman and averaged 3.3 minutes per contest.

Fermin started in all 38 games during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 5.2 points, four rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game as a sophomore.

As a junior, Fermin started in 11 of 34 contests. He averaged 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game during the 2024-25 season.

During the 2025-26 season, Fermin appeared in four games and averaged 0.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest. He went on a leave of absence following the Rams’ loss to North Carolina State on Nov. 17, 2025 and did not return to the team, according to Zach Joachi of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
