Victor Wembanyama will suit up Friday against Dallas after being upgraded from questionable to available, per Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News.
San Antonio had been quietly confident he would be able to play, as Jeff McDonald noted earlier, and the timing matters – the third-year center needs at least 20 minutes to remain eligible for major postseason awards.
He had been sidelined since leaving Monday’s game early with a left rib contusion, which also kept him out of Wednesday’s win over Portland.
Meanwhile, Stephon Castle will remain out, Orsborn adds.
Head coach Mitch Johnson said the rookie has been dealing with multiple minor issues, previously listed with right knee soreness and now with left foot soreness.
“Eighty games and the way he plays. It’s real. We’re not just sitting him just to sit him,” Johnson said.
