Virginia Tech basketball: Hokies finally get some good news ahead of the portal opening

by

The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Tuesday, and the Virginia Tech Hokies could use some good news. Since the end of the season, four players have already announced their intentions to enter the portal: Izaiah Pasha, Neoklis Avdalas, Christian Gurdak and Jaden Schutt.

You could make the argument that Tech isn’t going to miss all of those players, but losing so much talent, due to a perceived lack of funding, is not ideal.

So, on Monday night, junior forward Amani Hansberry took to social media to reveal he’d be back for his final season in 2026-27.

Hansberry, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, began his career at Illinois, where he played one year. He then followed assistant coach Chester Frazier to West Virginia. Last season, Frazier returned to Virginia Tech, and Hansberry followed him yet again.
