Vols looking to extend regular-season nonconference win streak versus Syracuse football

by

2025 will mark Tennessee’s fifth football season under head coach Josh Heupel. He guided the Vols to a 37–15 (20–12 SEC) record, one College Football Playoff appearance and two bowl wins in four seasons.

“Game week’s finally here,” Heupel said Monday ahead of playing Syracuse in Week 1. “We get the chance to go play in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Mercedes-Benz (Stadium). Great venue, great event and great opportunity for us to go play a really good football program in Syracuse.”

Tennessee enters its season opener with a 14-game win streak in nonconference matchups during the regular season. The Vols’ last loss in a regular-season nonconference game was on Sept. 11, 2021. Pittsburgh defeated Tennessee, 41-34, at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee’s nonconference win streak in the regular season dates to Sept. 18, 2021. The Vols defeated Tennessee Tech, 56-0, in a home in-state matchup.

Kickoff between the Vols and Orange in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday is slated for noon EDT and will be televised by ABC. Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Louis Riddick (analyst) and Kris Budden (sideline reporter) will be on the call.
