The Golden State Warriors and forward Jonathan Kuminga could not reach an agreement on a rookie extension, despite his strong performance in the 2023-24 season. Kuminga reportedly sought a $30 million annual salary, which the franchise was unwilling to offer.
Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy spoke to the media about the situation. “There’s no overreaction to not getting Kuminga an extension,” Dunleavy said, per Kendra Andrews. He emphasized that the organization’s hopes for Kuminga’s future remain unchanged, adding, “Sometimes these things get done, sometimes they don’t…Hope to get something done in the offseason.”
