NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Otega Oweh has had his biggest moments of the season against his former team in the early hours of Friday morning.

Oweh, a transfer from Oklahoma to Kentucky basketball, hit a game-winning shot with 0.5 seconds left to lift the Wildcats (22-10) over the Sooners (20-13) in the second round of the SEC tournament. Oweh had previously had a game-winning shot and then a block on the other end against Oklahoma on Feb. 26.

“It’s amazing,” Andrew Carr said. “Otega’s such a great guy, great teammate and he’s built for the moment. He wants it in that moment and so I knew it was going in.”

In total, Oweh scored a team-high 27 points and went 8-for-14 from the field. Koby Brea scored 22 for Kentucky. Carr added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Jeremiah Fears of Oklahoma led all scorers with 28.

The Wildcats advance to play Alabama on Friday evening.

“I honestly didn’t even move,” Carr said. “I was still at halfcourt just trying to stand around and take in the moment a little bit. Everybody’s running after him and I was just like, ‘What just happened?’ So a little bit of disbelief, shock, it was pretty special though.”
