Watch: Texas A&M football senior DT, sophomore RB preview Arkansas contest

After securing a 34-17 victory over the Florida Gators in Week 7 to move to 6-0 on the season for the first time since 2016, the Texas A&M Aggies are preparing for their first Southeastern Conference road test against Arkansas on Saturday.

In this league, there are no weeks off. If the Aggies want to reach the SEC Championship game in December, it will require not looking past any opponents, no matter the record. This weekend’s rivalry contest against the Razorbacks marks the first home game as the interim head coach for Bobby Petrino, who took over for the Hogs after Sam Pittman was fired. Petrino is one of the most intelligent playcallers in the country and would love nothing more than to knock off a top-four program in his first appearance as the Arkansas head coach since his last tenure from 2008-2011.

Dual-threat quarterback Taylen Green has played outstanding for the Razorbacks, even amidst the chaos throughout the coaching staff and the lackluster defensive unit. He ranks third in the SEC with 1,654 passing yards and is tied for second in the conference with 14 passing touchdowns so far in 2025. To combat Green’s threat at the helm on Saturday, Texas A&M’s defensive stars like Tyler Onyedim will play a key role in applying pressure and keeping him off-balance.

Against DJ Lagway and the Gators in Week 7, Onyedim recorded just three tackles, but his presence in the backfield has aided the Aggies to forcing opponents to just two third-down conversions out of 33 attempts over the last three SEC contests.

Another key factor that will determine how this game on Saturday will play out is Rueben Owens II receiving more of the workload for an injured Le’Veon Moss. The sophomore running back has displayed his ability to step in and make a difference at running back, but it will be intruging to see how he handles more snaps moving forward until Moss can return.

Here is everything Onyedim and Owens said before the team heads to Fayeteville for a battle with the Hogs this Saturday:
