Texas A&M’s 2026 quarterback room will be a talking point heading into the early parts of the offseason, as head coach Mike Elko and new QB coach Joey Lynch have yet to land a veteran signal caller from the transfer portal after incoming redshirt junior QB Marcel Reed announced his return for the 2026 campaign, while 2025 backup Miles O’Neill transferred to North Carolina earlier this year.
On paper, Marcel Reed’s backup will likely be incoming sophomore Brady Hart, who served as the No. 3 option last season and is well respected by the coaching staff, which has praised his maturity and accuracy despite being the youngest player on the roster. A former Michigan commit, Hart possesses enough arm talent and now a year of experience to be trusted in the No. 2 role.

Still, it’s highly unlikely Elko adds another veteran arm, and with 2025 four-star signee Helaman Casuga, Brady Hart will immediately compete with the freshman phenom, who has continued to show off his impressive accuracy and touch during Friday’s Polynesian Bowl, as the Utah high school standout found 2027 five-star Ohio State commit for one of the better throws you’ll see all weekend.
Casuga is a much more fluid athlete than Brady Hart and fits the mold of what Elko and new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins are looking for in making plays out of the pocket. However, his lack of experience at the college level will hinder his ability to secure the backup job, but anything is possible.
Casuga finished his career at Corner Canyon HS with 11,516 yards, 113 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions, combined with 1,083 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.
