But thanks to the new collective bargaining agreement, the Indiana Fever superstar in 2026 will enjoy a raise to the tune of nearly seven times her old salary.
The new CBA, which was agreed upon by the WNBA and the Women’s National Basketball Players’ Association on Wednesday, includes a brand-new provision called “Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract” — or EPIC, for short.

The EPIC provision is geared toward players on rookie-scale contracts who, upon garnering first- or second-team All-WNBA honors within their first three years, can make a max salary in their fourth year.

Clark is already poised to see her salary jump to $530,000 in 2026, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou. And as the Rookie of the Year and an All-WNBA selection in 2024, she meets the criteria for a maximum $1.3 million salary in 2027. The Fever then would be able to sign Clark to a $1.7 million supermax contract in 2028.
The EPIC provision establishes a pathway to maximum earnings for those who have already excelled in the WNBA despite their youth. It is huge news for players like Clark, Aliyah Boston and Paige Bueckers.
Boston, Clark’s teammate in Indiana, is max-eligible this year, while Bueckers’ max deal will come from the Dallas Wings in 2028.
