Will President Trump visit Daytona 500?: What we know for NASCAR season opener
Will President Donald Trump visit 2025 Daytona 500 race on Sunday?
The White House and NASCAR have yet to confirm or deny that President Donald Trump will be making an appearance at the Daytona 500. However, there are some signs pointing to a presidential visit on race day.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Wednesday announced a temporary flight restriction over West Palm Beach — where Trump’s personal home at Mar-a-Lago just so happens to be — citing a VIP as the reason. Thursday, that list grew, with another VIP restriction issued for Daytona. That latter shift applies for Sunday only, which would make perfect sense if the president were flying up the Florida coast to be at Daytona International Speedway.
Trump has a history with NASCAR and with the Daytona 500. In 2020, he served as the race’s grand marshal, joining George W. Bush on the list of sitting presidents to do so. Per the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Trump had previously attended the Daytona 500 in 1999, 2000 and 2001, and he also attended the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 while campaigning for office.
