The Wildcats are looking to punch their ticket to the Final Four for the first time since 2001, while the Boilermakers — after falling just short in the 2024 title game — continue their relentless pursuit of the first national championship in program history.

The top-seeded Wildcats earned their spot in the Elite Eight with a record-setting offensive display, dismantling No. 4 Arkansas 109–88 in the Sweet 16. Arizona shot a blistering 63% from the floor, led by standout freshman Brayden Burries, who poured in 23 points. Sophomore big man Motiejus Krivas provided the exclamation point with a massive second-half dunk, helping Tommy Lloyd’s squad reach this stage with a 12-game winning streak in tow.

Purdue, meanwhile, survived a heart-stopper to reach the regional final. The Boilermakers edged out No. 11 Texas 79–77 thanks to a dramatic game-winning tip-in by Trey Kaufman-Renn with just 0.7 seconds remaining. Kaufman-Renn finished with 20 points, while star guard Braden Smith added 16 points and continues to be the engine of a Purdue offense that ranks near the top of the nation in efficiency. After a bumpy road through the first three rounds, the Boilermakers are now just one win away from playing for a title in their home state of Indiana.

There is plenty of star power to boast in this game, from the senior guards in Smith and the Big 12 Player of the Year Jaden Bradley to Kaufman-Renn and freshman Koa Peat inside. Tommy Lloyd and Matt Painter’s squads both enter the Elite Eight with a legitimate chance to be the final team standing in Indianapolis, but only one team will punch its ticket on Saturday night.
