BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s basketball is looking to go 3-0 to start the season for the just the second time in Kim Mulkey’s four years as coach when it plays hosts to Charleston Southern on Tuesday morning.
This year, the No. 7 Tigers (2-0) are playing an easier opening slate than they did to tip off last season as defending NCAA champions. LSU opened last season in Las Vegas against Colorado, which beat them 92-78. Mulkey’s team then went on to win 16 straight.
Led by junior star guard Flau’jae Johnson this go around, LSU has won its first two games by a combined 190-80, scoring 95 points in both games against Eastern Kentucky and Northwestern State thus far.
Charleston Southern (0-1) lost its season opener to Coastal Carolina 97-53. The Buccaneers were picked to finish third in the Big South Conference in the preseason.
