BATON ROUGE – On Sunday, LSU women’s basketball will play its fourth instate foe when Louisiana makes the drive over the Atchafalaya Basin bridge to face the Tigers inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
It’ll be the second straight game No. 5 LSU (11-0) has played an in-state opponent, beating Grambling State, 100-54, last time in Bossier City, a homecoming game for Tigers sophomore sensation Mikaylah Williams.
The Tigers have gone 3-0 against teams from Louisiana this season with wins over Northwestern State and Tulane as well.
Louisiana (4-3) will play back-to-back SEC teams, starting with LSU before hosting Auburn Dec. 18. The Ragin’ Cajuns struggle to score the basketball, averaging 57.7 points per game while shooting 36% from the floor.
Three players do put up double digits per game on average — all three are guards for UL, led by Jaylyn James, who scores 12 points per game.
