The Michigan State women’s basketball team would like to spend the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament on its home court at Breslin Center.
The Spartans likely will need to pick up another big win to improve those chances.

MSU will have an opportunity to get that win when it travels to face Minnesota in a top-25 matchup at 6 p.m. Feb. 22. The No. 16-ranked Spartans (21-6, 10-6) got back on track on Wednesday, Feb. 18 with their home victory over Northwestern.
No. 23-ranked Minnesota (21-6, 9-4) moved into the top 25 of the national rankings this week and is on a nine-game winning streak. The Gophers are coming off a 74-61 home win over No. 10 Ohio State.
While Minnesota is ranked No. 23, it ranks favorably in the NCAA’s NET rankings, which is used by the selection committee. The Gophers are ranked No. 8 in the NET, which is the third-best ranking in the Big Ten behind UCLA and Michigan. MSU is No. 15 in the NET rankings.
