Last year around the time of the Alabama game, comedian and podcaster Theo Von began hanging around the Vanderbilt football program.
While Von didn’t have ties to the Commodores, he has lived in Nashville since 2020 when he purchased former coach Derek Mason’s home.

Since he became involved with Vanderbilt, Von has developed friendships with coach Clark Lea and several Commodores players. He attended the Commodores’ practice on Sept. 10.
“Theo’s become a great friend,” Lea said on Sept. 11. “I appreciate his interests in our program, the friendships he’s built. … Here’s a guy who knows how to find fun in everything he does. Talk about someone who doesn’t squeeze it too tight. He really has a great perspective and wisdom that he brings and also just that sense of humor and that lightness.
“So he’s a friend of mine, he’s a friend of our team. He’s a guy that has now been at road games with us too, we appreciate that from him and appreciate his interest in what we’re doing.”
