UFC 316 matchmaker: What’s next for Sean O’Malley, Julianna Peña?
Sean O’Malley and Julianna Peña were both finished in their UFC 316 championship fights. What’s next? MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn plays matchmaker.
Sean O’Malley and Julianna Peña were finished in their UFC 316 championship fights Saturday vs. Merab Dvalishvili and Kayla Harrison, respectively.
In the headliner at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., former champ O’Malley (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) failed in his bid to reclaim the bantamweight belt from Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC), falling short by third-round submission. Peña (11-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) was a far bigger underdog and the result aligned when she was forced to tap out by Harrison (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in the second round to drop her women’s bantamweight strap.
Where do the results leave O’Malley and Peña in their respective divisions? Watch the video above as MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn plays matchmaker in the aftermath of UFC 316.
