New York Liberty fans will be hyped to hear the latest update surrounding Breanna Stewart. The star forward confirmed to the media on Thursday that she would be making her 2026 preseason debut in the team’s game against the Indiana Fever on Saturday.

After ending the 2025 WNBA season with an MCL sprain suffered in the playoffs, Stewart showed she was back to peak form when she led Mist BC to the Unrivaled title earlier this year. The three-time WNBA champion, who first joined the Liberty via free agency in 2023, should be at full health for Saturday’s tip-off and ready to follow up on her 18.3-point, 6.5-rebound campaign.
Stewart recently announced that she and the Big 3 would return to the Liberty on a three-year deal, first dropping the bombshell news on her podcast in early April before the team confirmed it a few weeks later. Her contract set her salary at $1.19 million for the 2026 season thanks to the new CBA agreement, and alongside Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones’ contracts, Stewart made it clear that their priority was keeping the trio together.
“We need to make sure we’re able to really keep all the best players on the team,” Stewart said on the “Game Recognize Game With Stewie and Myles” podcast. “That’s why you’ll see a few of us in the millions, and everybody else trying to get as much as they can while also having a great team.”

The Liberty also put out a press release when the deals were official, and all three stars doubled down on their long-term dedication to the team. All three said that they consider New York their home, and Stewart in particular mentioned that her goal was to add more WNBA titles to the team’s 2024 trophy.
“My family is set up and solid here,” Stewart said in the release. “I’m committed to the Liberty, and I’m excited to continue to invest in my teammates, in the community, and in a franchise that has already given me so much. I promise to keep fighting to bring more championships to the greatest city in the world.”
