When does new NASCAR season start? The Clash and Daytona 500 kick off 2025 schedule

Mark your calendars for Feb. 2. That’s the day NASCAR returns to action and Cup Series drivers get in gear for the 2025 season.

It all begins with the Cook Out Clash, an exhibition race at historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bowman Gray has held weekly racing events since 1949 and hosted NASCAR Cup Series points events from 1958-71.

From there, NASCAR moves to its most famous track, Daytona International Speedway, to kick off the regular season in earnest with the 2025 Daytona 500 on Feb. 16. Preceding the “Great American race,” the speedway will host Daytona 500 qualifying on Feb. 12 and the Duel at Daytona – two 150-mile qualifying races – on Feb. 13.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes center stage at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 14 for its first race of the 2025 season, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series will open its season at Daytona on Feb. 15. Then all eyes will be on the Daytona 500, the first of 36 points races in the 2025 Cup Series season.

Bubba Wallace (23) leads the field during the 2024 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.
