Despite four consecutive losses and a losing record in conference play, the Auburn Tigers are still in position to make the NCAA Tournament.
According to ESPN’s Bracketology by Joe Lunardi, the Tigers are projected to be a No. 8 seed in the South Regional. The projection is a positive outlook for Auburn compared to USA TODAY’s projections, which slates Auburn as a No 10 seed.

Lunardi has Auburn matching up against No. 9 Indiana. The No. 1 seed projected in that bracket is the UConn Huskies, and they would play the winner of Appalachian State and Bethune-Cookman in a First Four matchup. Auburn defeated Bethune-Cookman in the season opener, 95-90 in overtime. Keyshawn Hall scored 28 points in his Auburn debut and attempted 18 shots from the free-throw line.
For Auburn to remain in the field of 68, it will need to snap its four-game losing streak on Wednesday at Mississippi State. Auburn currently sits at 14-11, and is 5-7 in the SEC. The current slide featured losses to Tennessee, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas. Before this current losing streak, Auburn had won four games in a row, with victories over South Carolina, Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas. Auburn has six games remaining on the schedule with matchups at Mississippi State, versus Kentucky, at Oklahoma, Ole Miss, LSU, and at Alabama. They will need to start a new winning streak to go dancing.
