Selection Sunday is finally upon us, and IU women’s basketball will soon know its position in the NCAA tournament.
The Hoosiers will be going into this tournament with its lowest seed since the 2019 season — IU is projected from a No. 8 to a No. 10 seed. In the past four seasons, the Hoosiers have gotten a No. 1, No. 3 and two No. 4 seeds.
IU will need to go on the road, and the Hoosiers are projected anywhere from Texas to South Carolina, according to bracketology predictors.

How Indiana women’s basketball results impacted its March Madness resume last week
March 6: 78-62 win over Oregon (NET No. 42) in second round Big Ten Tournament — This win, which avenged a loss in Eugene earlier this season, was likely what took Indiana out of a potential First Four situation in the NCAA Tournament. Oregon is also a projected fringe NCAA Tournament team, per ESPN, and being able to take down the Ducks in blowout fashion on a neutral court only helped Indiana’s case.
March 7: 84-79 loss to USC (NET No. 6) in Big Ten quarterfinals — a close loss was, really, the best-case scenario for the Hoosiers, and that’s exactly what they did. Indiana had a competitive game against the eventual Big Ten Tournament champion and likely No. 1 seed in the tournament, and the Hoosiers showed that they can keep up with some of the best teams in the nation.
