AUBURN — The seniors were sent off with a win in their final Auburn basketball home game, but did a 14-point beatdown of LSU do the Tigers any favors on the NCAA Tournament bubble?

It certainly didn’t hinder the odds Auburn makes the big dance, but those chances have shrunk exponentially after a dismal February doomed the Tigers’ hopes of a fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

As of Wednesday, March 4, Auburn appeared in just 31 of the 132 projections listed on BracketMatrix, and among those projections, the Tigers are widely considered one of the last four teams to make the field.

The Montgomery Advertiser‘s taking a look back at Auburn’s latest results and assessing its NCAA Tournament résumé as its regular season nears the end. Here’s where the Tigers’ stand after their latest contest:

How has Auburn basketball fared in recent contests?

  • Ole Miss 85, Auburn 79 (Feb. 28 at Neville Arena): While it didn’t completely wipe Auburn’s March Madness hopes, losing to the Rebels gave it a loss below Quads 1 and 2 for the first time this season.

  • Auburn 88, LSU 74 (March 3 at Neville Arena): Fourth time was the charm, as Auburn finally handled a lesser foe in a must-win circumstance. Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton paved the way, combining for 48 points.
