The latest USA TODAY Sports women’s basketball coaches poll dropped on Tuesday, with Kim Mulkey and the Tigers coming in at No. 6, down one spot from No. 5 last week.
LSU went 1-1 on the week, losing on the road to Texas but responding with an emphatic road win over Auburn. LSU wasn’t punished much by the voters for the Texas loss. It was a game on the road vs. a top-five team, one that LSU had already beaten in Baton Rouge earlier this year.

LSU sits at 22-3 on the year. The Tigers still have a chance at No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but that probably requires beating No. 3 South Carolina at home this weekend.
UConn sits atop the poll. With a 25-0 record, the Huskies got all 31 first-place votes. UCLA, South Carolina, Texas, and Vanderbilt rounded out the top five.
Oklahoma, another SEC team LSU already beat, came in at No. 10. Tennessee fell five spots after coming out on the wrong end of a blowout vs. South Carolina.
