STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women’s basketball has lost two games in a row, but its latest NCAA tournament projection is unchanged.
The Bulldogs (16-7, 3-6 SEC) lost by 14 points to LSU on Sunday, six days after falling to Missouri on a buzzer-beater and. Both games were on the road.
MSU hosts Arkansas (9-15, 2-7) on Thursday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+) and No. 23 Alabama (18-5, 5-4) on Sunday (1 p.m., SEC Network).

ESPN’s Charlie Creme kept Mississippi State as a No. 8 seed this week. He has the Bulldogs matched up with No. 9 Oregon. The winner would play either No. 1 UCLA or No. 16 seeds Texas Southern and North Carolina A&T.

Mississippi State women’s basketball NCAA tournament resume
Mississippi State’s NCAA NET ranking didn’t decrease from last Tuesday. In fact, it rose one spot to No. 33 on Friday and didn’t change after the LSU loss.
The Bulldogs are 0-5 against teams in the top 17 of the NET but 16-2 against everyone else.
Thursday’s game versus Arkansas is Quad 4 while the Alabama game is Quad 1.
Mississippi State women’s basketball NCAA tournament history under Sam Purcell
MSU has reached the NCAA tournament once in coach Sam Purcell’s two completed seasons. In 2022-23, MSU won in the First Four and the first round before losing to Notre Dame in the second round.
The Bulldogs have made NCAA tournament appearances 12 times and have won at least one game 11 straight times.
