NORMAN — OU women’s basketball is in a much better position than it was a year ago.
The Sooners enter Selection Sunday with a 25-7 record and look to be a shoo-in to be a top-16 overall seed and to open the tournament at home at Lloyd Noble Center.
Last season, the Sooners found out before the Big 12 Tournament semifinals that they wouldn’t be able to host in the NCAA Tournament no matter what seed they earned in the tournament.
OU women’s gymnastics was scheduled to host an NCAA Regional at Lloyd Noble Center and there were no viable alternative options that were workable.
OU closed the season strong, winning nine consecutive games before falling to top-seeded South Carolina in the SEC Tournament semifinals.
The Sooners would host NCAA Tournament games for the first time since 2022 when they were a No. 4 seed and beat IUPUI in the first round before being blown out by Notre Dame in the second round.
Here’s a look at the Sooners’ resume and where the NCAA Tournament projections stand according to bracketologists heading into the selection show at 7 p.m. Sunday.
