South Carolina women’s basketball dropped to No. 4 in the AP top 25. The USA TODAY coaches poll will be released Tuesday.
The Gamecocks (22-2, 10-1 SEC) picked up their first SEC loss of the season on Sunday to Texas, moving it up from No. 4 in the top 25 to now No. 3. South Carolina fell 66-62 on the road in Austin, splitting the home and home series as it won 67-50 on Jan. 12.
UCLA has remained No. 1 in the poll since beating the Gamecocks on Nov. 24.
Coach Dawn Staley‘s squad stays home after two road games to host Florida on Thursday (7 p.m., SEC Network) and No. 7 UConn on Sunday (1 p.m., ABC).
As of Monday, South Carolina is still top of the NET rankings, as the loss pushed the Gamecocks to 6-2 on the road and only 10-2 in Quad 1 games.
South Carolina has six more games left in the regular season, two of which are against ranked opponents.
