Where Vanderbilt women’s basketball ranks in latest March Madness bracketology after Auburn win

Vanderbilt women’s basketball has settled into the No. 6-7 seed range in NCAA tournament projections.

The Commodores (19-7, 6-6 SEC) have struggled somewhat against the upper echelon of the SEC, but they have won the games they’re supposed to win and are guided by freshman sensation Mikayla Blakes, who has two 50-point games this season and recently broke her own SEC record with a 55-point performance in an overtime win at Auburn on Thursday.

Vanderbilt made the NCAA tournament in 2024 for the first time in 10 years and won its First Four game against Columbia.

Here’s where the bracket projections stand:

ESPN: No. 7 seed, facing No. 10 seed Richmond in Los Angeles

The Athletic: No. 6 seed, facing No. 11 seed Fairfield in Durham, North Carolina.

Her Hoop Stats: No. 6 seed, facing No. 11 seed Minnesota in Manhattan, Kansas.

On3 Sports: No. 6 seed, facing No. 11 seed Nebraska/Virginia Tech in Fort Worth, Texas.

Vanderbilt women’s basketball NCAA Tournament résumé

Vanderbilt is a solid bet to make the NCAA tournament. The Commodores are just 2-6 in Quadrant 1 games. They have wins over projected tournament teams Tennessee and Alabama, the latter of which was on the road. Vanderbilt has one Quadrant 2 loss and no Q3 or Q4 losses.

The Commodores rank No. 23 in the NET and No. 28 by Bart Torvik.

Vanderbilt basketball poll rankings

Vanderbilt spent a few weeks ranked but is no longer in the AP or Coaches Polls.
