Vanderbilt women’s basketball is projected to return to the NCAA tournament after snapping a 10-year drought a year ago.
The Commodores (18-6, 5-5 SEC) are projected anywhere between a No. 5-7 seed in the latest projections. Vanderbilt lost on the road at Texas on Thursday before an open date Sunday. The Commodores will next face Mississippi State at home on Thursday.
Star freshman Mikayla Blakes is second in the SEC in scoring at 22.1 points per game. Khamil Pierre is fourth in scoring with 21.2 points and second with 10 rebounds per game.

Vanderbilt women’s basketball NCAA Tournament résumé
Vanderbilt is a solid bet to make the NCAA tournament. The Commodores are just 2-6 in Quadrant 1 games but do not have a loss outside Quad 1. They have wins over projected tournament teams Tennessee and Alabama, the latter of which was on the road.
The Commodores rank No. 22 in the NET and No. 26 by Bart Torvik.
