The Wisconsin Badgers close their 2024-25 regular season with a home matchup against Penn State on Saturday afternoon.

Wisconsin enters after an important road win over Minnesota on Wednesday. After the Badgers lost two of their last three games, both due to late-game struggles, their down-to-the-wire win over the Gophers was an important step forward. Wisconsin made key plays late, those from stars John Blackwell and John Tonje, as well as from bench contributors Jack Janicki and Carter Gilmore.

The Badgers move into their regular-season finale needing a win to clinch a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament. More importantly, the team currently sits on the No. 3-seed line in NCAA Tournament bracket projections. A run of strong results could jump that projection up to a No. 2 seed by the time the bracket is finalized next weekend.

For now, entering the regular-season finale, here is where Wisconsin stands in every notable ranking metric:

  • KenPom: No. 10 overall (No. 11 offense, No. 29 defense, No. 28 strength of schedule)

  • NCAA NET: No. 14 overall (6-7 vs. Quad 1, 9-0 vs. Quad 2, 2-0 vs. Quad 3, 6-0 vs. Quad 4)

  • ESPN’s BPI: No. 19 overall (No. 4 Big Ten, ranked behind Michigan State (No. 12), Maryland (No. 13), Purdue (No. 16))

Penn State, Wisconsin’s final regular-season opponent, enters Saturday’s matchup ranked No. 65 in KenPom, No. 67 in the NET and No. 60 in the BPI. The Badgers are expected to win decisively.
