Who is visiting Wisconsin this weekend?

by

After quite the first weekend of official visits, the Wisconsin Badgers are set to host another quality contingent of recruits this weekend in Madison, as they look to round out their 2027 class.

So far, the Badgers stand at 17 commits in the class after landing four of their six uncommitted visitors this past weekend. Wisconsin was able to get big commitments from four-star wide receiver Jai Jones and four-star cornerback Mekhi Williams. Heading into last weekend, it wasn’t fully clear where Wisconsin stood with both recruits, but the Badgers closed in a big way and received commitments from both.

They also got commitments from three-star linebacker Nathan Jones and three-star cornerback Royalton Allen, who had been projected to land at Wisconsin heading into the weekend. Jones rounds out Wisconsin’s linebacker room as the second commit there, while Allen and Williams have created a quality class at cornerback.

Wisconsin still has room to add in its 2027 class, as they’re looking for another wide receiver or two, another safety, potentially another offensive lineman, and another edge rusher/defensive lineman or two.

So, who will be on campus this weekend? Let’s run down this weekend’s group of six visitors.

WR Steele Harris

The three-star Montana native has been one of Wisconsin’s biggest targets in the class, as the 6’3, 190-pound wideout is a great fit for the Badgers on the boundary.

Wisconsin started off its receiver group with Jai Jones last weekend, and Harris could be the next addition there. It’s between the Badgers and Cal, who will get a visit from Harris next weekend, putting the Badgers in a big position here. Can Wisconsin close on the three-star this weekend and get a commitment before that second visit?

Regardless, they’ve done some good work to establish themselves in a good position for Harris here, and will look to add him to the class this weekend.

WR Charles “Chuck” Alexander

The Badgers are loading up at wide receiver this weekend, as they look to round out the class there with another addition or two.

Composite four-star recruit Chuck Alexander was initially scheduled to visit next weekend, but the Badgers moved him up to this weekend, and will look to move their move for him. Alexander is currently a Louisville commit, but there are a couple of schools after the Ohio native.

He visited Louisville last weekend and now has his lone other official visit scheduled for this weekend. This one seems to be a tight recruitment, and we’ll see if the Badgers can find a way to flip another commit here.

EDGE Brody Pfannenstiel

Talking about outside commits, the Badgers are hosting three-star Texas Tech edge commit Brody Pfannenstiel on a visit this weekend after hosting three-star Chicago edge Darin Graham last weekend.

Wisconsin is hoping to add another player here alongside in-state commit Isaac Miller, and they’ve brought in a couple of intriguing candidates for the spot.

Pfannenstiel has his first official visit to Wisconsin this weekend, with Texas Tech to follow next weekend. Wisconsin offered him as his recruitment took off back in January, and Pfannenstiel now has offers from 13 schools. That includes Texas Tech, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Utah, Illinois, and others.

The Red Raiders have quite the group of defensive linemen in their 2027 class, landing five-star Jalen Brewster, four-star Anthony Sweeney, four-star K’Adrian Redmond, and Pfannenstiel, so we’ll see if Wisconsin can entice the latter to flip this weekend.

EDGE Yahzeen Zion

The Badgers are also looking at a bigger edge with three-star Yahzeen Zion, who stands around 6’4, 265 pounds and could play on the defensive line.

Zion’s got a good amount of interest, especially from SEC schools, so it’s a good sign the Badgers got a visit from the Arizona native. Wisconsin could look to push to land both Pfannenstiel and Zion this weekend, and have the spots open for two edge rushers.

But it all starts with this weekend and what the Badgers can do to make a good impression before Zion takes other visits.

S James Roberson

Wisconsin already has two safeties in the class with three-star Dustin Roach and three-star DJ Davis, but they’re looking to add a third.

That’s where three-star Texas native James Roberson comes into play, as he heads to Madison on an official visit this weekend. He’s not the only target on the board, as Wisconsin is also recruiting four-star Cooper Ohnmacht, a Kansas State commit who is scheduled to visit next weekend, but he could round out the class with a commitment.

Roberson has Mississippi State still on the docket after a visit to TCU. Those two schools seem to be the top competition to Wisconsin. The Badgers will also have Caleb Cooper coming to campus next weekend, so there are a lot of questions here when it comes to filling that last safety spot.

It’ll be a big two weeks for Jack Cooper.

OL Alijah Shaw

Wisconsin has been sitting neatly with four offensive line commits in the class. They’ve landed four-star Cole Reiter, four-star Hunter Mallinger, three-star Reece Mallinger, and three-star Ethan McIntosh.

Now, heading to campus this weekend is four-star Alijah Shaw, who stands a massive 6’8, 275 pounds. Shaw visited Arkansas last weekend, as the Razorbacks seem to be the top competition for the four-star.

It seems like Wisconsin is in a great position here, as they don’t need to add a fifth lineman, but Shaw would be a luxury if they’re able to nab him and round out a strong first class for Eric Mateos.
