The Texas Longhorns added two recruits to their 2027 class on Tuesday, but also suffered a defection from the 2027 recruiting class with the report that Katy three-star linebacker Cade Haug decommitted.
Haug was originally offered by Texas back in January and committed to the Longhorns shortly after in early February. Haug’s decommitment comes at an odd time, as he was just on campus in Austin for his official visit with the Longhorns.
According to Inside Texas, the decision was a result of differing NIL valuations between Texas and Haug’s camp.

Haug was the only linebacker commit for Texas in the class, so now it is likely they will do a hard reset with their board heading into the dead period. The Longhorns recently hosted Houston linebacker commit Jerrell Bridges on an official visit, so that could be a name to watch moving forward if the staff opts to turn up the heat in his recruitment.
Haug transferred from Kingwood to Houston-area powerhouse Katy this offseason and will be a centerpiece for their defense heading into the fall.
Other offers include Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Kansas State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Utah, among others.
