Wide receiver was an important position of need for Notre Dame in the 2026 class, and Fitzgerald adds a unique talent to the group. Notre Dame now has four wide receivers committed in the class, with Fitzgerald joining Texas star Kaydon Finley, Georgia standout Bubba Frazier and Florida athlete Dylan Faison.

Notre Dame has recruited Fitzgerald for over a year, but things heated up in recent months. Following an outstanding junior season, Fitzgerald saw his recruitment heat up nationally. Programs like Notre Dame, Clemson and Michigan all extended offers in the spring. Notre Dame made a visit down to Arizona in the spring and following that trip it was clear that Fitzgerald had become a priority target for the Irish coaching staff.

He was officially offered by the Notre Dame on May 15th and from that moment on the Irish were a major player in his recruitment. His official visit to Notre Dame the weekend of June 13th helped deal the deal for the talented pass catcher.

Fitzgerald earned a 4.0-star, Top 250 grade on the Irish Breakdown board. He also earned a four-star ranking from Rivals.

Fitzgerald earned offers from the Irish, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, UCLA, Arizona State, North Carolina, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, Stanford, Boston College, Arizona, Minnesota, Duke, California, UCF, Vanderbilt and Washington State.

He joins Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running backs Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Finley, Faison and Frazier at wide receiver, Kansas tight end Ian Premer, Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Tyler Merrill and Grayson McKeogh, Michigan offensive linemen Ben Nichols, Gregory Patrick and Sullivan Garvin, Connecticut offensive lineman Charlie Thom, North Carolina ends Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, Pennsylvania defensive back Joey O’Brien Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey, Maryland cornerback Khary Adams and Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith.
