The Dallas Wings made one of the biggest splashes in WNBA free agency with the signing of co-Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith to bolster their frontcourt. The Wings continued to shape their roster via free agency this week with the signing of veteran guard Odyssey Sims, as per Alexa Philippou of ESPN.

The Wings’ addition of Odyssey Sims via free agency is expected to be a one-year contract. This will be Sims’ fourth stint with the Wings. She first played for the team during the 2016 season when the then Tulsa Shock relocated to Dallas and rebranded as the Wings.

She returned to the franchise in 2023 via a hardship contract, was waived once the Wings’ roster was healthy, then brought back on a rest-of-season contract to end the year. She came back to the Wings the following season also on a hardship contract, and was cut again once the team was healthy.

Sims split last season between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever. The Sparks cut her almost halfway through the year, and she joined the Fever, helping spark the team to a strong finish and solid playoff run amid injuries to several key players including Caitlin Clark.

She appeared in 24 games, including 21 starts, in 28 minutes per game between the Sparks and Fever. She averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists with splits of 41.4 percent shooting from the field, 35.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 78.2 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, Sims is approaching her 13th year in the league.
