Wisconsin guard out for “foreseeable future” after wrist injury

by

Wisconsin basketball bench guard Jack Janicki will be sidelined for “the foreseeable future” following a wrist injury suffered against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday.

During a Friday meeting with the media, Badgers head coach Greg Gard confirmed that Janicki underwent surgery to repair his wrist on Thursday.

The sophomore guard has played in all 26 games for UW this season following a standout redshirt freshman campaign in 2024-25. The Minnesota native logged 2.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 dimes per appearance in his second year as a primary contributor.

During the 2024-25 slate, Janicki saw action in all 37 games for Wisconsin, punctuating his season with a career-best 11 points in Wisconsin’s win over No. 7 Purdue in February 2025 and adding nine points in a Nov. 2024 win over No. 9 Arizona.

With the emergence of Braedon Carrington and Hayden Jones off the bench, Janicki’s role has looked a bit different this season. After dropping a season-best nine points against Providence in November, he’s scoring five or more points in just two games.

Still, Janicki served as another experienced playmaker for the Badgers to utilize during conference play. He will remain sidelined for what appears to be an extended period.
