The Washington Wizards have shut down No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa for the remainder of the 2026 NBA Summer League after an outstanding two-game showing.

Dybantsa opened Summer League with 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals before following it up with 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks in his second appearance.

Across the two games, the rookie averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks while posting a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) of 32.4.

According to the available Summer League records, Dybantsa’s 32.4 PER is the highest ever recorded by a No. 1 overall draft pick, surpassing notable performances from John Wall (31.6), Paolo Banchero (23.9), Victor Wembanyama (22.9), and Deandre Ayton (22.4).

After making an immediate impact in Las Vegas, the Wizards have elected to end Dybantsa’s Summer League campaign and shift their focus toward preparing him for his rookie NBA season.
