Brittney Griner has only appeared in six of the 14 games the Connecticut Sun have played this season due to injuries. She missed two games earlier in the season due to a left foot injury, and then another four due to a rib issue.
The All-Star center returned on May 30 against the Los Angeles Sparks and proceeded to play two more games. In her last outing against the Chicago Sky on June 5, she recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Griner has since missed Connecticut’s recent showdowns with the New York Liberty and Toronto Tempo because of her lingering rib injury.
As the Sun prepare for their meeting with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Saturday, though, the team revealed a positive development regarding Griner.
Is Brittney Griner Playing in Connecticut Sun vs. Indiana Fever?
On their injury report ahead of the Fever showdown, the Sun have noticeably removed Griner, with Hailey Van Lith being the only Connecticut player listed. That means the 35-year-old center will suit up when they host Indiana.

It’s unknown if Griner will have a minutes restriction upon her return. Regardless, her presence should be a massive boost for a Sun team that has lost four straight games and is currently at the bottom of the WNBA standings with a 2-12 record.
The Fever boast one of the best bigs in the WNBA in Aliyah Boston, who is coming off a monster double-double performance of 34 points and 12 rebounds against the Sky. That said, the Sun will need Griner to step up if they want to slow down Boston and limit Indiana’s offensive options.
Griner is averaging 12.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game this 2026 season.
