Oddsmakers are better about adjusting to WNBA trends than they used to be in the past, but a fast-acting bettor can still find delightful value early in the WNBA season, such as these WNBA player props and WNBA picks on Wednesday, May 13.

Kelsey Plum Over 20.5 points (-125 at bet365)
This is insulting. Kelsey Plum deserves more respect.
She has only scored at least 25 points in all four games this season, averaging 26.8. She has shot a mere 59.4% from the field and 41.7% from deep. But go ahead, oddsmakers, continue to insult her with this piddling points prop.
When Kelsey Plum left a dynasty for the Los Angeles Sparks, it was not entirely by choice, but it was often described as a chance for her to build a title contender of her own. That was a bold thought, and it is far from reality, but what is clear is the Sparks have enough pieces around Plum that she can exploit a defense nearly at will.

Back Kelsey Plum for the next month. Maybe by then, oddsmakers will give her the respect she deserves.

Kayla Thornton Over 1.5 3-pointers (-145 at bet365)
Kayla Thornton has had to sit for more than a week thinking about an 0-of-11 showing, including 0-of-3 from deep. She played 30 minutes in that loss to the Sky, going scoreless in an effort that must be forgotten but instead has only lingered during an unusual early-season rest.
Let’s not ask WNBA schedulers why the Golden State Valkyries had more than a week off just a week into the season. Let’s instead jump on Thornton’s redemption.
The odd thing about that loss to Chicago was that Thornton took only three 3-pointers. She opened the season hitting three each in the Valkyries’ first two games, combining to go 6-of-14 (42.9%). That is a small sample size, but it is still a sign that her shot is fine. She should have leaned into it in those offensive struggles.

That shot looking solid will be a welcome change for Golden State after stumbled to just 28.2% from long range last year. This week of angst has presumably included plenty of Valkyries’ encouragement for Thornton to keep chucking.

Courtney Williams Under 3.5 assists (+122 at FanDuel)
Courtney Williams is undergoing an unexpected but welcomed adjustment. She has long claimed she is more of a shooting guard than a point guard, despite finding her home as the point guard for an annual contender with the Minnesota Lynx.
And now the Lynx have Olivia Miles.
The ball is in Williams’s hands less and less. Miles has already earned that responsibility.

After opening the season with six assists and then five, Williams has managed just three in her last two games. That may become more of her standard, and it is not a bad thing for Minnesota.
