Having a Paige Bueckers hangover? Don’t fret.
Bueckers will likely return to the basketball court on Friday, but she won’t be in a UConn jersey this time. Instead, Buckers will be donning a Dallas Wings jersey after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, just days removed from leading the Huskies to a national championship.

The Wings are set to tip off the WNBA preseason with a matchup against A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces. It’s not clear if Bueckers will suit up for the preseason, but if she does, she’ll team up with four-time All-Star Arike Ogunbowale in the backcourt. Bueckers described her new teammate as “electric. (Ogunbowale) can score at all three levels, obviously a bucket-getter. So looking to assist her a lot, space the floor, get her open looks, play off each other.”
The WNBA preseason opening day is rounded out by an exhibition matchup between the Chicago Sky and the Brazil women’s national basketball team. (Fun Fact: Brazil native Kamilla Cardoso competes on her country’s national team when not playing with the Sky.)
Paige Bueckers poses with WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick to the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA draft in New York on April 14, 2025.
