Texas A&M’s pursuit of 2027 five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson will continue, even if he doesn’t commit to the Aggies in the coming weeks, which could be the case after his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend. While his OV with the Aggies was successful, according to his recent Rivals interviews, the site now predicts that the Fighting Irish have won the first battle.
Notre Dame’s history of landing and developing top linebacker prospects has played a significant part in Henderson considering the Irish, and while Texas A&M’s appeal made the Aggies the “team to beat” early in his recruiting process, it’s clear that timing is everything, as Rivals insider Chad Simmons has placed his prediction for Notre Dame to land the blue-chip defender.

Simmons stated that Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman showcased everything Notre Dame has to offer, including the program’s lasting culture and academic reputation as one of the two institutions in the country, which is the usual pitch, but has reportedly moved the needle in Notre Dame’s direction. Still, even though Simmons feels that the Irish will be his choice, Texas A&M will not exit the conversation quietly.
“Texas A&M is not going away. The Aggies have battled for Henderson for months and remain a serious contender. But the combination of Notre Dame’s relationship-building, developmental vision and academic fit has momentum building in South Bend.”
Henderson noted this week that, while his commitment date is set for July 1, his decision could come sooner based on how he and his family feel, especially after this weekend’s OV.
