Clear your calendar. July 1 is shaping up to be a busy day for the Oregon Ducks.
The summer is underway, and the Ducks are entrenched in several national recruiting races that are concluding. Many of those recruitments will end with a commitment on July 1 during the Rivals Summer Signing Day recruiting special.

Four-star athlete Tae Walden Jr. announced that he will make a commitment on July 1 during the recruiting special. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound athlete, who can play both wide receiver and corner, will choose between Oregon, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU and Georgia. Walden is the No. 69 overall player in the 2027 class and the No. 3 athlete, per the Rivals Industry Ranking.
Walden is being coveted by SEC programs, but the Ducks might be the program to pull him from the state of Tennessee and bring him out west. While Auburn has been seen as the frontrunner in the recruitment, Oregon made a big move on Walden last weekend during his final official visit. Now, the Ducks have a real shot to land Walden next week.
As a junior, Walden was a star two-way player at Collierville High School. He racked up 42 catches for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense, with five interceptions and 17 pass breakups on defense. Walden’s long frame and speed make him an excellent fit on either side of the ball for the Ducks. However, Oregon is recruiting Walden at the corner.

Walden’s father, Erik Walden, played 10 seasons as a linebacker in the NFL. After being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2008, he bounced around the league and even won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 2011.
July 1 will be a busy day for the Ducks. Five-star corner Hayden Stepp and four-star offensive lineman Gecova Doyal will both announce their commitment decisions during Rivals’ recruiting special as well. Stepp and Walden could join the Ducks together, boosting Oregon’s class in the national rankings and adding to the Ducks’ incredible recruiting haul in the secondary, which includes corner Josiah Molden and safety Semaj Stanford.
