Former Notre Dame women’s basketball legend will be playing this upcoming season closer to home.
Skylar Diggins recently announced she will be playing the upcoming WNBA season for the Chicago Sky, in a busy offseason for the team where they drastically reshaped their roster.

Diggins, a South Bend native who starred at Notre Dame, remains one of the most decorated players in Fighting Irish history. During her four-year stretch at the university, Notre Dame experienced over 130-wins, three Final Fours and two national championship games. Skylar set school records in points, steals, free throws made, games started and triple-doubles and is regarded as arguably the greatest player to ever wear the Notre Dame jersey.
As decorated as her college tenure was, her pro resume looks just as strong. Diggins has played 11 WNBA seasons for the Tulsa Shock, Dallas Wings, Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm. For her career, she averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 335 regular-season games. Last season, she averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game for Seattle.
Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said the team has coveted Diggins for years and called her one of the league’s elite passers, while coach Tyler Marsh said she brings veteran leadership and shot creation. For Chicago, the signing is both a reunion with a regional star and a sign that the Sky are pushing hard to return to contention.
