2027 wide receiver recruiting is a hot topic of conversation for Notre Dame. A really talented pass catcher was just added to the board.
Notre Dame football extended an interesting recruiting offer this week to 2027 three-star Littleton (Co.) Valor Christian wide receiver Jackson Coleman. While Coleman brings a bizarre recruiting profile, this could end up being an important offer, and may also be pulling back the curtain on the harsh reality of where 2027 wide receiver recruiting is right now.

Head coach Marcus Freeman and Irish assistant Mike Brown are still searching for their first wide receiver commit in the 2027 class. The team is in a really good spot with legacy target Julius Jones Jr., and is trying to keep pace for Chicago standout Quentin Burrell. Those are two of the most important overall targets for the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame is also in a great place with Cade Cooper out of Pennsylvania, who is a raw but extremely talented pass catcher. The team is still pursuing other talented players, but has faded with a few key targets like Julian Caldwell recently. Due to that fact, it wasn’t overly shocking to see the Irish staff extend the wide receiver offer board.

That is what is making Coleman such an intriguing option being added to the offer board. Like Cooper, Coleman is also quite raw as a football player. You can’t, however, teach his athletic upside and potential. The Colorado native is a player to keep a close eye on moving forward, especially if they get him to take a visit to check out South Bend.
Jackson Coleman’s recruiting background
Coleman is considered to be a three-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, he currently rates as the No. 810 overall player, the No. 101 wide receiver, and the No. 4 player from the state of Colorado in the 2027 recruiting class. Odds are that those rankings will begin to rise.

While his rankings might not be overly impressive, Coleman is putting together a fantastic offer list. Some of the top schools that have offered him so far include the Fighting Irish, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Minnesota, Stanford, Cal, Northwestern, Oregon State, Washington State, Syracuse, and Purdue, among others.
After not making much of an impact as a sophomore, Coleman put together a tremendous junior season in 2025. In 13 games, the 6-3, 195-pound pass catcher managed to haul in 45 receptions for 975 yards and nine touchdowns, an average of 21.7 yards per reception. His combination of size, length, and long speed brings a lot of intrigue to the table.
