Talladega sensation! Corey Day wins first career O’Reilly Series race

by

Hendrick Motorsports driver Corey Day survived chaos on the final lap at Talladega Superspeedway to score his first career win in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

The No. 17 Chevrolet driver raced to the front of the pack when it mattered the most, holding off Brent Crews and Sheldon Creed as the caution flew on the last lap after a multicar wreck in Turns 3 and 4.

On Lap 1, Patrick Staropoli crashed his No. 48 Big Machine Racing Chevrolet into the outside wall on the backstretch after getting a push from William Sawalich early in the race.

Creed won the third installment of the 2026 Dash 4 Cash, his second victory in the program this season. Day, Creed, Crews and Smith will race for the final $100,000 prize next weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

The O’Reilly Series heads to the Lone Star State next Saturday for its annual visit to Texas (3:30 p.m. ET, The CW, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
