The Eastern Conference first-round series between the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers reaches a decisive Game 7 on Sunday, May 3, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET, with the series tied 3-3 after six tightly contested games.
Toronto enters the matchup with two notable names listed, as Brandon Ingram is questionable with right heel inflammation and Immanuel Quickley is out because of a right hamstring strain. Cleveland, by contrast, has no players on its injury report.
That matters because Toronto has already leaned heavily on its top options throughout the series. Scottie Barnes is averaging 24.2 points, 9.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds in the playoffs, while RJ Barrett has been just as important at 24.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Ingram’s status is especially important because he has still been a secondary scoring piece even while limited, averaging 12.0 points in five playoff games. If he cannot go or is restricted, Toronto’s shot creation gets thinner against a Cleveland team that has been healthier and more balanced.
The Raptors were able to force Game 7 with a 112-110 overtime win in Game 6, but they will have to do it without Quickley, who gives them pace and perimeter shot-making. His absence puts more pressure on Jamal Shead to organize the offense and on Toronto’s wings to create clean looks.
Cleveland has the advantage of stability, and its playoff numbers show why the Cavaliers have been a tough out. Donovan Mitchell is averaging 23.3 points, Evan Mobley 19.0, and James Harden 21.0 with 6.7 assists, giving the Cavaliers multiple options on every possession.
The series has swung back and forth all month. Cleveland won Games 1, 2 and 5, while Toronto answered with wins in Games 3, 4 and 6, including a pair of home victories that kept the season alive.
