Angel Reese Struggles in Second Preseason Game with Atlanta Dream

It’s just the preseason, but thus far, Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese hasn’t looked very good.

The third-year WNBA forward, who was traded from Chicago to Atlanta this offseason, had a disappointing first preseason game earlier this week. Reese, a 2024 first round WNBA Draft pick out of LSU, didn’t look polished.

Reese put up 8 points and 7 rebounds in a win over the Chicago Sky, but she shot just 2 of 7 from the field, including 4 of 8 from the free throw line. She added a personal foul in 13 minutes of game action.

On Sunday, Reese played in her home debut for the Atlanta Dream. It didn’t go very well for her this time, either.

Reese, recently named the 22nd best player in the WNBA by ESPN’s Top 50 rankings, put up the following stats in 11 minutes of game action on Sunday:

It’s not a terrible game, obviously, and it’s just the preseason, but so far, it looks like Reese is going to need some time to adjust to her new team.

Reese is coming off an up-and-down 2025 season

Reese, a two-time WNBA All-Star, is coming off an up-and-down season in 2025. She finished the year with strong numbers, after playing inconsistently to open the year. Reese ended the year missing the playoffs, but averaging 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

She’ll look to take another step forward in 2026.

Of course, it could take her some time to gel with her new teammates.
