YMCA National Champion Kyle Burk Hands 2027 Verbal to LSU

NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Kyle Burk of Lincoln University, Pa., will head south for his college career after he recently verbally committed to Louisiana State University. A distance freestyler and backstroker, he will arrive in Baton Rouge in Fall 2027.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University. I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and KJAY & RAYS coaches for all of your support and encouragement. I would also like to thank Coach Jon & Coach Rick for believing in me. I am honored to be a part of such an incredible team in the Fall of 2027!  GEAUX TIGERS!”

Burk does his club swimming with Kennett & Jennersville Area YMCA and most recently won the 1000 free and mile at YMCA Short Course Nationals where he also placed second in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 back. He raced to 18th place in the mile at Juniors East in December, and he earned silver in the 200m back and 1500m free at YMCA Long Course Nationals last summer.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:23.91
  • 1000 free – 9:07.23
  • 1650 free – 15:18.28
  • 200 back – 1:46.38

Currently a junior at Avon Grove High School, Burk placed second in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free at the 2026 Pennsylvania 3A State Championships. He finished ninth in the 500 free and 11th in the 100 back at the state meet during his sophomore year. He is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

LSU finished seventh at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships.
