College basketball players can no longer enter the transfer portal, but they can still decide their 2026-27 destinations. That includes a big man who initially committed to UNC.

On Tuesday, Florida Atlantic transfer Maxim Logue committed to the Memphis Tigers.

Instead of debuting for Michael Malone during his first year at North Carolina, Logue will play for Penny Hardaway in Year Nine at his alma mater.

Logue’s initial commitment to the Tar Heels gave them a big man with raw potential, plus he had a solid chance to start his first collegiate game. Logue appeared in 49 games between Oregon State and Florida Atlantic, averaging four points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

UNC is in a solid position with its frontcourt, headlined by Chapel Hill native Jarin Stevenson and Malian big man Sayon Keita. North Carolina also has Cade Bennerman off the bench, while other guys can still join the program.
