Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy continues to make progress on his road to recovery.
Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz told ESPN’s Marty Smith on Saturday, May 16 that Hardy has returned to Columbia, Missouri, and is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Monday to continue his rehab process. He remains in the hospital for monitoring of his gunshot wounds and post-op surgery.

Hardy, one of the nation’s top running backs last season, was shot in the upper leg and underwent surgery last week after attending a concert in Laurel, Mississippi. He was discharged from a hospital in Mississippi and taken to Columbia on Tuesday, May 12.

The Kansas City Star reported that Hardy was a passenger in a vehicle attempting to leave where the concert was taking place when gunfire started. The Laurel Police Department described him as an “innocent bystander.”
Hardy led the SEC and Power Four conferences with 1,649 rushing yards last season for the Tigers, scoring 16 rushing touchdowns, which set a program single-season record.

Hardy was shot in the upper leg while attending a concert back in Mississippi. He underwent surgery and was later discharged from a hospital in Mississippi, and then transferred to a hospital back in Columbia, Missouri on Tuesday.
In an update to Smith on Saturday, Drinkwitz said Hardy is walking and doing physical therapy three times a day at the hospital in Columbia.
ESPN reported on Friday, May 15 that a suspect was taken into custody in Paducah, Kentucky, on Thursday night and was awaiting extradition, according to the Laurel Police Department.

Here’s Missouri’s statement on Hardy that it released on May 11:
“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” the statement read. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support. A timeline for his return to football activities is unknown at this time. Mizzou Athletics will provide more information on his status when it becomes available.”
