A Nebraska quarterback commit is peer recruiting one of the top tight ends in the class of 2027 and is taking to social media to ask for help. Trae Taylor is making a pitch to try to land tight end Olafemi ‘Joey’ Hunter.
Hunter is a three-star tight end out of Grayson High School in Loganville, GA. He measures at 6 feet 6 inches and 255 pounds. The recruit recently listed Nebraska, Pitt, NC State, Georgia Tech and Syracuse as his top five schools.

Taylor had a strong 2025 season at Carmel Catholic. In 11 games, the four-star quarterback threw 3,571 yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran 77 times for 633 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Taylor is expected to transfer from Carmel Catholic High School in Illinois to Millard South in Omaha at the conclusion of his junior year. Taylor is expected to take over for former starting quarterback Jett Thomalla, who signed with Alabama.
Taylor actually credited his quarterback coach with bringing Hunter to his attention. The QB said that his coach believes that Hunter is the perfect fit for Nebraska’s offense.
When I first saw his film I thought damn who is that. When my QB coach calls and says that is the type of TE you have to have in your offense that’s all I needed to hear. Husker football fans watch his film tell me your thoughts.
Nebraska’s class of 2027 currently has nine commitments. The class ranks 15th nationally and 6th in the Big Ten Conference.
