Three Colorado transfers land in 247Sports final portal rankings

by

The Colorado Buffaloes‘ 2026 transfer portal class received rave reviews from several outlets, with many believing it was a top-20 unit in college football. CU needs it to live up to the hype if it wants a successful season, but it is worth noting which incoming transfers are most likely to contribute.

247Sports released its final transfer portal rankings earlier this week, with three Buffaloes making the outlet’s Top247. Several departing Buffs also made the list.

Breaking down Colorado’s top transfer additions

Wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. (No. 21), defensive back Boo Carter (No. 64) and linebacker Liona Lefau (No. 170) made the cut. All three players project as staples for the 2026 Colorado team, with each looking like a bona fide starter.

Moore has a connection to new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion from his time at Texas and has emerged as a leader in the wide receiver room this spring. As a Longhorn the past two seasons, he broke out in a big way, catching 77 passes for 988 yards and 11 touchdowns. Carter seems ready to thrive with a change in scenery after an up-and-down two seasons with Tennessee. He will be a defensive chess piece for defensive coordinator Chris Marve, who plans to play him all over the field. Lefau was Moore’s teammate at Texas and joins a rebuilt linebacker core that has three productive players likely competing for two starting spots.

Departing Buffs to make the final rankings

  • OT Jordan Seaton, LSU (No. 4)

  • WR Omarion Miller, Arizona State (No. 12)

  • DL Jehiem Oatis, Ole Miss (No. 194)

  • S Tawfiq Byard, Texas A&M (No. 231)

It was a tough pill to swallow for Colorado fans when the team lost both Jordan Seaton and Omarion Miller, but Moore is theoretically a like-for-like replacement for Miller. While Seaton is in a tier of his own, Deion Sanders’ staff brought in several experienced starters who should be more than capable at left tackle.
