After dropping the first three games of the Eastern Conference Finals to the New York Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to enter a difficult offseason with major financial and roster decisions ahead.

Cleveland’s payroll situation and second-apron limitations are likely to force the organization to make adjustments during the summer.

Despite speculation surrounding blockbuster possibilities, reports indicate the Cavaliers are not pursuing a trade centered around Evan Mobley and Giannis Antetokounmpo involving the Milwaukee Bucks.

Mobley did not match the level he reached a season ago, when he captured Defensive Player of the Year honors and entered MVP conversations.

His outside shooting regressed below 30 percent from three-point range, while his overall defensive influence was viewed as less effective than in previous years.

To create more flexibility or pursue roster upgrades, Cleveland could eventually evaluate trade options involving Mobley, Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, or James Harden.

Harden’s contract adds another layer to the situation, as the veteran guard holds a $42.3 million player option for next season following his arrival in the Darius Garland trade before the deadline.
